Anyone have Futura Ultra Z tires on their car?

I'm going to replace my tires soon and when I got the car it had Futura Ultra Z's on it. I guess they are from Pep Boys. They are supposed to be identical to a good named brand tire (I can't remeber which one) just with the Pep Boys name. Anyone know about them?

I'd love to have some tires I can actually get to stick when I take off hard.

Thanks!

"Cooper Tires"
Cooper actually manufactures that brand.

So, what are considered the best tires to get? I've heard some about Nittos, but don't know a whole lot about them.

How do the Ultra-Z's compare to tires such as Nittos?

Dave- that sounds promising!

This may be a dumb question, but if I would get new Ultra-Z's (the same tires that are on their now) would I notice a difference in traction in 1st and 2nd gear? It almost seems like traction would be better as the tread wears off because it is more like a "slick." Is that right?

No, that's not right. With street tires (not DR's or slicks), the more tread the better. When I first got my car it had those Futuras on the back that were pretty bald. Traction was horrible. I swapped them out for some new Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s and traction increased dramatically. I've even pulled a 1.969 60' out of them.

Not sure on the standard street nitto. BUt i am running Ditto drag radials in the rear and there is no comparision. Nitto BLOW them out of the water in traction. ~150 per tire, expect 15,000 miles from them max however.

Are Nitto Drag Radials used as a street tire? Can I have them on my car as daily use?

Yes they can be used everyday, mine are as are many others on here. Driving in snow is a BIG no no, but rain is fine as long as they still have tread on them. You want to run them at about 25psi on the street due to their design and how they wear. Any higher and they wear in the middle prematurely. They also corner very well, even though they are based more or less for straight line traction.

These tires also took 4k clutch drops for me (when heated, 12psi) at the strip and held on. When i was closer to stock they would hold 6k drops.

Nitto also makes a front tire that is very sticky, and will only last about 15k too. Dont know much on them however.

atljar- thanks for the info. I'm very intrigued about these tires now!

So where is the best place to buy these? Is it the Nitto 555R that I would want?

My Futura Ultra Z's on the front are pretty new. Would it be ok to keep those and run the Nittos on the back?

Right now if I take off normally and mash the pedal in 1st and sometimes even in 2nd, the tires break loose. I WANT TRACTION!!
