Anyone have base shift points for 3.42s?

I would like to know if anyone out there has the base shift point data for 3.42 gears?

I'm getting my 3.42s installed this week, and car programmed on Saturday so I'd like to get some data together for shift points.

If you happen to be able to convert the shifting tables from LT1 edit or similar to an Excel spreadsheet that would be awesome.

If not 3.42s, 3.23s would be a big help as it would get me closer.

I will send you a file that works well with a stock converter.

Is that for 3.42s or 3.23s?

Thanks a bunch!

Oh, what format you sending it in?

It is for 3.42's - LT1 edit format.

ok thanks...

I found a more current file in Excel format. Use it instead, it is a better program.

Sorry to be a pain but I have a question...

From looking at the Excel file, it looks like the 1-2 WOT shift is at 33MPH for the 3.42s which would be ~4200 RPM, but the 1-2 WOT shift is at 48 MPH for the 2.73s which is ~5200 RPM. Any idea why there is a difference?

The difference is because you have to "lead" the shiftpoints different amounts in different gears in order to have them hit around a given RPM. In other words, because the engine revs much more quickly in low than it does in second, you have to tell it to shift sooner. That way, by the time it reacts and executes the shift, it will be at the right RPM. You can go back and do the math on the factory program for the 3.23, and you will see the same thing, but to a lesser extent.

That program is in my wife's car. The mods are SLP headers and catback, UD pulley, and Moroso CAI. The rest is stock. This program shifts perfect in that car, including the part throttle shift points.

Thanks a bunch for the replies and the explanation.

I'm going to give that program a shot, since I have just basically a CAI, Cat-back and gears now...
