Anyone ever beef up stock LCAs?
A guy at the race track said he took his, welded a piece of metal down each side to kinda enclose them into a box shape almost. Made a big difference and hardly costed him anything. So whats your guys thoughts on this one? Would that be a cheap traction mod or would a person be bettter off spending the $100+ for macs, bmrs, or whatever. Only thing I can see bad about it is Im sure they aren't as light as aftermarket.

some 1/8th inch plate is all you need. I really don't think they would be much heavier than say...bmr tubulars, unless your comparing them to the chromoly ones. My cousins car has boxed stock control arms on. For my car i just bought the bmrs since new bushings where ~50-60 bucks and i figured i'd want new bushings if i took the time to box the stock ones.

I did this mod well, and somewhat happy. I should of also upgrade the bushings which i didn't (easy fix). I need relocation bracket now cause of wheel hop after I did this.

i boxed mine with probably 1/8 or 3/16 inch steel i don't remember. It went well and they seemed to help. It was a free mod too.:)

i did that to my stock torque arm to tide me over....
