Arrow Anybody using this for an exhaust??

Ive been brainstorming a new exhaust setup. My y-pipe is just too low after I lowered the car. I dont want to have to get another one made. Im also considering just taking out my cutouts and replacing with pipe to gain another inch or two, but I thought this would be something different that might be worth a try. True duals too. They will just dump out to the side. What do ya think??

well a few guys have them, i would think your still gonna have clearance problems, because they will be right under the floor pn instead of the driveshaft tunnel. I guess it depends on how long they are. Also you might get some serious drone and vibration with this setup, I've had numerious setups, and loud droning gets old fast if its a daily driver. They might be worth a try if the price is good for ya

Cool

Do a search for Purple Hornie. I've got a set on my car and they work awesome. You have to run them true dual in the trans tunnel to get good ground clearance on 3". Mine are just run off my origional dual pipes and hang kind of low right now. No problems though and they are wicked at high rpm

There are actually a set for sale in the For Sale Section

I just wanted to bolt them onto the collectors and aim the dumps down and out. I havnt really looked at the room under there, compared to the lenth of the mufflers. Are they the same ones you're running? I looked around in the for sale section and coulnt find your post. Can u gimme a link? Thanks.

Thanks for the sound clip. That sounds awsome. The car isnt a daily driver anymore (thank god for company vehicles ), so I can deal with it.

I am currently running this setup on my Z.
I had them shortened up a bit to clear my DDs and I had O2 bungs welded into em.
I wish I had a sound clip, at idle and around town they really are not that loud. WOT they scream but very livable just cruising around.
Now they don.t exactly fit that well, mine are right up against the bottom of the car which as you can guess introduces some weird vibrations into the car. They also bounce against the bottom of the car when driving around, not bad mind you but you can feel it and it will make you think that something is loose under the car. I really can,t see a way to get an exhaust hanger on em and so far (2500 miles) they have not given me any problems.
The tranny mount IS in the way and will make it hang lower on the driver side, I have scraped that muffler a couple times on speed bumps and low RR tracks.
I am running them off a set of Jet Hot coated Hooker LTs.
My car is NOT lowered and in fact sits up a bit higher in the rear with the Drag Launch kit I have on it.
In my opinion this exhaust setup would be trouble on a lowered car, you might be able to modify the tranny crossmember (grind it down) but I would go ahead and buy one and mock it up first and see how much room you have, Every speed shop I know can get these mufflers cause they use them on old school musclecars all the time. So cruise on down to the local speed shop (you know the one that has all the old school parts and almost nothing for the new tech cars ) and order a set, then if they don,t work for ya you can always return em.

I have the set for sale Nomad was talking about. Here is the link. I also have a new set of 3-bolt flange reducers I can include for an extra $15. I cut the ones off of the mufflers and welded them up. So you would need them if you were bolting straight to the headers. Let me know if your interested. Thanks.
