Any advantages to using link bar hyd roller lifters over stock style?

Hey guys I was just wondering if there is any advantage to using linkbar style hydralic roller lifters (Morel or Howards)over the factory style like LS7 or Comp 875-16 for a built 383 with forced induction and a 7000 rom redline?

I'd be using an AFR hydra-rev kit regardless of lifter type, if that makes any difference.

Not that's obvious to me. Link bar lifters are longer and probably heavier. Longervwould mean you will absolutely need new valve pushrods. Heavier would be a disadvantage to my way of thinking. I used Cadillac racing lifters in my car and I know several guys that used ls7 lifters with no issues even to 7K+ rpm. The comp cam 875 lifters had a problem a few years ago with coming apart but that may be behind them.

Unless you hear otherwise from the experts, I'd stick with the stock style lifters....

You would need a tall lifter for the link bar to clear the walls of the LT1 lifter bores. I have seen a ghetto install where they ground down the walls of the bore to allow use of a shorter lifter.... not recommended. I run a link bar design, but they are solid rollers (Crower Severe Duty Cutaway), but that's because Crower didn't make a dogbone style in that service way back when the engine was built.

Go with Bruce.

yeah the 875's had people complaining they came apart. IMHO most over lashed them.

They are a R (race) lifter with 0-1/8 turn preload MAX

I ran them for several years and 100's of passes without issue

Not really necessary on a street car IMHO.

Thanks guys I have a new set of LS7 lifters and a set of Comp Cams 875's so I should be ok.
