Another exhaust question?

What would a stock motor, long tube headers, no cats, and bullets sound like?

Re: Another exhaust question?

This winter I plan on installing a lt4 hot cam kit and do some work to the induction. I noticed a lot of other people use bullet mufflers that dump before the rear axle. That's what I plan on doing. I was also wondering do all bullet mufflers sound the same or is there some you want to stay away from?

Dynomax Bullets is the name actually, but I'm sure there are similar copies.

Re: Another exhaust question?

I ran longtubes, with sweet thunder mufflers mounted to them and nothing more. It was an amazing sound. I cant imagine having a non stock motor with that setup. You can forget about romping on it in town though. Anything over 2k was pretty crazy loud.

Re: Another exhaust question?

you'd get some serious popping on the downside of throttle. every time you take your foot off the pedal you're going to get backfire due to lack of backpressure. this part is the part that really sounds bad...and it's not the good bad...

What would be the best thing I could do? I already have the exhaust off the car. I haven't ordered my parts yet and I need to know what I should order.

Re: Another exhaust question?

keep in mind...

as exhaust flow goes up...

power moves up the RPM range
engine wants to run richer
exhaust gets louder
backpressure decreases
deceleration popping increases
EPA's temper increases

I have RK-sport mid tubes and a bullet muffler in place of the cat. I get so many compliments on the engine sound I could not begin to count. It sound ******* wicked. You wont be disappointed.

Re: Another exhaust question?

I do not remeber any popping when letting off the gas when i was running my setup... Lts-sweet thunders, non at all actually? I know it popped a whole a little when i would run longtubes and the cat back, no cat and the muffler unbolted but thats it.

Re: Another exhaust question?

Yeah if you run no cat you will have that raspy pooping sound, the bullet muffler cures nearly all of that.
