Alternator Relocation Bracket

Has anyone tried making one of these on there own? I'd like to have one but for $200 it seems like it would be just easier to make one myself and save $150 bucks or so.

Re: Alternator Relocation Bracket

Thanks but I already know that people sell them but the price they are selling them for seems to be pretty steep. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard to make one myself and wondered if anyone has made one on there own.

Yeah I've got my motor and everything ready to go in once I can relocate my alternator. Do you have any plans yet on how you're going to do it? Do you know where to get a pulley to go in place of where the alternator goes now?

Re: Alternator Relocation Bracket

I'm going to do mine different. I am putting the alt where the airpump is like everybody else does but i'm going to cut the whole top of the bracket off where the alt was and not have a pulley there at all. I know i will have to do some work to figure out a way but work it but i don't want anything there at all. Iv'e been thinking about making the power steering pump pulley, ribbed and running the belt over it on the ribbed side and then maybe a pulley under the driverside head and then down to the alt. I haven't got the geometry worked out on it but i will figure out a way. As long as all the plullies are turning the right direction, on the same plane, and the belt don't touch anything i'll be ok.

That would look a lot better without anything where the alternator use to be.
Good luck in doing it. You'll have to post on how it comes out.

I've been think about just making an extension to the existing mounts so that the alternator would be above the valve covers but then I don't know if I'd have hood clearance issues.

Two things, it costs alot more for CNC machines then you think.

And second, it you think it is easy, Please give it a shot. It really is a bitch with all the CNC, mock ups and such. But by all means, build a better mousetrap. Thats what it is all about.
