AIP Electronics>>> opti

Not wanting to buy I have a good dist but came across this company that sells acdelco units and there brand too. They use a different optical encoder sensor that they claim is better than the mitsibishi one. Has anyone tried these or seen then? Just currious.

Re: AIP Electronics>>> opti

would like to know if someone is making a better sensor or not? Wouldn't mind having a backup sensor for my gm one. They sell dist for like 130 or something and i would pay that if sensor was equal the mitsi or better. Would just install sensor on my dist if it would ever fail. They say there good to 8000 rpm's

I use a stock GM vented Opti for the optical cam position sensor only, and I can assure you the stock Mitsubishi sensor will provide a reliable cam position signal in excess of 8,000 RPM. I've hit 8,000 RPM with my engine (let's not say under what condtions), and a buddy routinely ran 8,000+ RPM redline with an 1,125HP blown 383 LT1. Mitsu sensor feeding a MoTeC ECU.
