Aftermarket Coil

I'm having a upper RPM cut on my car, and I've been thinking that it might be the coil. So, I'm thinking about upgrading. What I'm curious about is if the MSD coil for the 96+ cars is any better than the stock coil? Does it put out more current than the stocker unit? If not, can any of you recommend a different coil? Thanks a lot.

yeah, the blaster coil is supposed to have a lower primary resistance and will output more voltage and higher current. I use one and i'm happy with it, it helped resolve an ignition issue i was having as well.

The 96-97 stock coils are actually pretty good as far as spark output. I doubt you will see much difference unless yours is actually bad.

Yea but what if you replaced the stock one with a sorry azz autozone stock replacement? Then would you recommend the swap? I seen on TV where they showed the spark and the stock one has like a small spark that wont even burn paper and the aftermarket msd is a big spark line that is bright and will set the paper on fire in seconds.

Fortuantly for you, you are not burning paper.

The autozone one should be fine, just go with the blaster if you feel like it. I did it because its a shiny red color.
