ABS light comes on under acceleration

my ABS light have been comming on and off recently and I am unsure why. it comes on durring hard accleration, and stays on till I turn off the car, but it is gone when I restart it. any ideas? BTW, I checked if the brake light in the wing is ok, and no problems there. I have been told that it will bring up the ABS light if it does not work. thanks.

On top of your rearend there is a sensor which is screwed in. It's possible that under hard acceleration it shakes loose or is blown loose.

It could be any one of your sensors (there is one on each front wheel hub and the one on the rear end in a non-traction control car I believe)

One problem people have is with spark plug wires being too close to ABS wiring (or any low voltage wiring for that matter). The wires and send interference (especially if you have aftermarket wires with lower resistance ratings) that can screw up the ABS.

Rev your engine in park and see if you get the light. Then check to make sure your plug wires are as far as possible from the wires coming form the ABS unit or ABS sensors.

I remember when my ABS light kept coming on, the reluctor (sp?) ring was busted and so was half the parts in my rear end.
so it was time for a new rearend!

You should also check your differential fluid. My rear sensor was throwing a code and a light because it is magnetic and had too much crud on it. The fluid was low and could not clean the sensor.

Exclamation ABS INOP

My ABS light is on all the time after a friend and I replaced my spark plug wires. Maybe the senor was disturbed, the light does come on and the ABS does also does not work. The car will lock up in slippery conditons. Do you think disturbing the senor will cause my ABS if fail. The light comes on anytime the car is running and stays on.

it only does it when I am moving, and my abs still work with the light on. I think it might be the sensor on my rearend. I had a new rearend installed about 6 months ago, so maybe it was not put on tight.
