i was wandering if you need to use after market retainers with my comp cams double valve springs
i don't know if this will help any but here is the info on the side of the box of the vavle springs:
installed: 121 lbs @ 1.800"
open: 388lbs @ 1.200"
spring rate: 344 lbs/in
coil bind: 1.150

keep in mind these are iron heads

If wondering whether oem retainers can be used, the answer is no. The question of retainer requirement/choice is dependant on the spring used. Retainer choice, as far as compatibility is concerned, has no bearing on the head used. The head does not enter the equation til other end of spring is addressed, via spring cup.

As far as spring specs are concerned, happy hunting, finding a set of CC springs that will meet their/mfr. specs.
