A4 to M6 conversion problems help!
A4 to M6 conversion problems help!
I've owned my '95 Z28 vert for 18 years already and recently did a A4 to M6 T56 conversion. When using the OEM tranny mount, it hits the bottom of the floor pan of the car as if the mount was broken. I cheked it and it wasn't broken, and neither were the motor mounts.
I installed an energy suspension polyurethane tranny mount and it solved the problem, but those things make the car vibrate like crazy!!!!!! I went back to the OEM and the transmission hits the bottom of the floorpan.
A friend of mine told me that the T56 is much longer than the 4L60e and that the mount should be different... but the fool drives a Mustang, so I rarely pay attention to the words that come out of his mouth. Maybe we speak different languages...
But anyways, anyhelp will be greatly appreciated.

Re: A4 to M6 conversion problems help!
When I did my conversion I used the mount from my auto and it worked fine. I had the T56 mount but it wasn't in very good condition. They looked identical to me. The GM parts manual only shows one part number for the 93-97 trans mount. It does have a separate number for a 1LE mount, but nothing for different transmissions.
The 98-02 mount part numbers are different than the 93-97. The crossmember for the T56 also has a different number than the 98-02 cars. I don't know if there is any difference between the actual parts. Are you using an LS1 crossmember. If you are maybe there is enough difference to cause your problem.

I don't understand how this is, since the poly mounts are taller than a stock mount.
When you say "it hits", what are you really saying? What circumstances?
