94 z28 questions before i mod need advise badly.

Hello everyone im new to this fourm i have a 1994 z28 camaro the only mods i have now are K&N and flowmasters. I plan on sending it to the shop for a 1. Long tube headers and 2. different throttle body and elbow change

throttle body?
whats better a 52, 54, or 58 throttle body and will it be a mod i can feel or something to do just to say you did it? if its worth it should i lso get a better elbow or keep the stock?

headers?
Ima send to the shop and have some long tube hooker headers installed along with a ss hood. should i get a y pipe to go along with headers and will i need to change exaust or can i keep the flows?

I know i really soud like a novice but truth be told i am rather ask for help then spend money and look dumb. im sending to shop to get done im hoping for big change in speed and performance. i read something about changing my posi gears 2. now i love my camaro but i dont know to much about engines. i need some advice on what i should get to upgrade performance without spending too much and without killing myself in gas.
thaks alot

Headers are a good upgrade but the tb really is not needed unless you have more mods.

1.6 roller rockers would also be good.

spend the TB money on a better catback. You will need a new ypipe, unless you get true duals. Stock y will not bolt up to longtubes. If you are happy with the Flowmaster, then spend the TB money on LCA's/panhard combo or, like stated above, a good set of 1.6 NSA roller rockers. Dont forget to upgrade valesprings though if you do rockers.

The question is: how much money are you intending to spend and are you looking for show or go?

You may also want to consider a mail-order tune, I definitely would hold off on the throttle body for now though.

Gears and headers. Then like all of us everything else till it blows and bigger and better and start over again.

+1:yes:

And a Catback. You already have a Cold Air Intake, the elbow you currently have is sufficient.

I missed it. Are you A4 or M6? In either case gears will give a real SOTP improvement. Also, the A4s benefit greatly from a higher stall converter. Is this a daily driver?

A 3" mandrel bent cat-back will be a requirement with headers, FYI. So plan on that expense.

Forget the mail order tune in my honest opinion unless you add cam/heads.

Do you plan to stay NA, or is boost / juice an option for the future? How many miles on the motor?

personally i think a good start would be a set of pacesetter long tubes with ory, 1.6 roller rockers, 160 thermostat, and a mail order tune

YoungCompton 08-16-2007 01:28 AM

i plan on spending around 1500 for mods but its a everyday driver so i dont want to kill myself in gas, only time irace is when a mustang pulls up (4W-0L)

engine was rebuilt about 30k miles ago has 177XXXorginal not going to juice

What I plan 2 have done is posi gears what should i set it as? ima get Catback(what brand), LT Headers and Y-Pipe.

If a add the 1.6 roller rockers 95lt1 said upgrade valvesprings how much is this gonna be?

going off personal experiences. 3:73 gears are the best bang for the buck (under 200$ and under 2500rpm @ 70mph w/a4). Next a set of long tube headers (400$+ on up). It will feel like a whole different car. If you make these changes, You can fry the factory type tires on demand. If you figure in good tires, and all the installation fees, I would "guess" it would be a little on the high side of your budget (I do all my own work,so i dont know prices). But, I have first hand proof of major performance increase with these upgrades.

i have a 94Z.... bone stock i went 14.7@97mph. With the mods I have listed below i managed to go 13.2@105mph. All of these mods are bolt-ons and managed to give me a great increase in power. In addition to what you have listed already I would: go with a custom ypipe and a cutout, unless you want to go true duals. Gears are a big increase in performance, as is a mailorder tune. A dyno tune is the best but you cant beat a mailorder tune for the increase in power over stock programming; especially for how much you spend. Full exhaust, intake, gears, and programming..... oh and dont forget that little life saver, the lt4 knock module. Thats what i would reccomend unless you really want to tear into the motor.

Of course I could always have my car go faster, but as it sits right now, it is still fun as hell... except for my crappy opti thats going out. Well good luck man.
