4.10 or 4.11 which is better???
The more teeth you have the more crammed it is, and the less material each tooth has as a base.
Not sure if it's the ring gears or the pinion gears that always gets chewed up (I would guess the pinion) but whichever part gets chewed up more, get less teeth on it.

Actually anyone who has bought GM Motive 4.10s recently has 4.11s. That includes me. I've had mine for over 6 months now. Theoretically they are stronger. But the first time I took the car to the track they started to whine real bad, even with a solid pinion spacer and differential girdle. Then again what do you expect with 400+ rwhp, drag radials and a stick shift.

Heh, I couldn't convince a bunch of people in one of the local clubs that Motive 4.10's are 4.11's. Like I didn't notice how many teeth were on there after a few hours staring at them during the install
I was vindicated when UPS dropped off their packages
I haven't had any problems with mine yet, same setup as grease.... although I don't haven't any strip time on them, just "regular" abuse

I agree, but still whenever gears are changed, people complain. The factory must have a secret that nobody knows about.
Mine were done as per the Helms manual, and still, not quite right. ??? Who knows?

actually the 4.10s are stonger. its all about tooth contac. less teeth on the pinion means smaller diameter gear and less contact with the ring. think of it as putting 400hp thur 1 tooth or dividing up 400hp on 2 teeth. its petty simple when you look at it this way.

Well my gears whine or rather I can hear them whine because I have a Spohn race torque arm with a solid steel bushing. Therefore it transfers all the noise to the inside of my car. but after going to the track last week, they whine 10x more.
