i didnt build the motor i bought the car and i dont know much about it all i know is it is a 383 stroker and it doesnt have nos or anything it raced a trans am with a ls1 beffed up amd it ran 11.04 in 1/4. and i beat it.

 

So what's the problem?

 

i lost horsepower and we thought it was the vacuum and spark plugs and not that. and my car runs rich and every time i step on it smokes blows out the muffler. see i have hp when I'm at 20mph and step on it but when it comes to off the line it has nothing at all. i'm starting to think its a sensor or something. but when i hook it up theres no code throwing off. the only thing it shows is transmissions but its a 700 rebuilt with a performance shifting so it will tolerate the 383 and then put a 373 locker moiser rear end in it. so it should be good on everything else. i don't know where to begin I'm not not mechanic or anything so I'm stumped.

What year is the car?
Is it idling ok?
Does it buck, stumble, or hesitate on acceleration?
Does the engine sound normal? Any knocks, pings, or odd noises?
What color is the smoke? Blue, White, or Black?
Does it smoke at idle?
What fuel is in it? Did you fill up recently? Could it just be bad gas?
Have the emissions equipment been removed from the car?
Do the headers glow red?
Did you check the plug wires for burns?
What did the plugs look like? Did you check all of them?
Have you done a compression test?
Have you checked the fuel pressure?
Have you put a vacuum gauge on it?
How high a RPM have you revved it?

It's not throwing any codes at all? No Service Engine Soon Light? Does the Service Engine Soon light blink on and off at times?
