383 stroker components

I'm thinking about doing a 383 for my car in the near future. I have a couple of questions. What are you guys using as far as pistons with a 6" rod 383? I would like to keep the compression around stock but it seems like it would be difficult to do with the small chambers in the LT1 heads. Dished pistons? And as far as oil pans go, do any companies make pans for a LT1 F-body that are already clearanced for the stroker? I did a gen1 sbc 383 and had to "massage" the pan with a hammer where the rods were hitting the pan rails. I was thinking about using the scat 9000 crank and scat forged rods with a kb piston. One more thing. Does scat make a internal balance 1 piece seal crank with a 3.75" stroke?

I'll save you a lot of time...

www.nu-tekmotorsports.com

Email Nick and tell him you are looking for a complete 383 kit with a Scat crank, SRP pistons, Speed Pro file fit rings, Eagle H-rods, and clevite 77 bearings.

He'll get you the RIGHT parts for a good price.

You can also talk to him about which cam to go with.

Tell him Grip sent you.

I got all my parts from him. Awesome customer service.

Another good guy to talk to would be Bret Bauer( bret@bauer-racing.com ). On the board his screen name is SStrokerAce...right now hes finishing up my motor and we planning some serious power NA.

By the way the parts you are asking about is the same parts we just finished up building the shortblock with. Bret could anwser all your questions with the motor sitting right in front of him.

I'm right behind Gripenfelter on this one.
www.nu-tekmotorsports.com absolutely ROCKS!

Nick really knows his stuff, and is always happy to help. Their customer service is second to none. They have many many happy customers on this board, and he's built countless LT1 383's. He's the man you need to talk to... he knows ALL the in's and out's. Nutek also sells a canton oil pan that has been clearanced for a 383 that you'll probably want to look into.

Best of luck with your project.

I will be picking up my stroker short block from the machinists Friday The following parts selection was used in my build up. I decided on these parts after talking to my machinist and doing a little research.

Crank:
Scat 9000 series 3.75" internally balanced crank.

Piston:
Keith Black Model KB164 piston with a 19cc dish (6" rods). The block will be decked so that the piston is .006 in the whole. I will also be using .029" Impalla head gaskets with the heads decked to a 52cc chamber. This should deliver a static compression of about 11:1 with a .035" quench.

Rods:
6" Scat 4340 Forged I beams with 7/16" cap screws.

Cam:
Comp XE 230/236 (in an attempt to remain emissions compliant)
