3" cutout installation

alright, I have a 3" Hooker catback, and I was looking to weld a 3" flowtech cutout into it as well, placing it right before the rear axel. However, I took it to a muffler/exhaust shop and they said that the piping would have to be either 2.5" or 3.5" to weld it in...

the cutout came with two flanges and the cap, however they thought it wasnt possible to do?

what is going on here?

they dont have a clue... my 3" cutout slipped right over my 3" I-pipe. I watched them do it. Id try a different shop... or even try another time, the shop that did mine told someone else they wouldnt do it on their car for some odd reason.

The cutout diameter is the same as the exhaust pipe diameter.
Which wouldn't be a problem if you were going to flange it inline.
Then all they would need to do is flange the I pipe ends.
I'm also assuming they don't have a flare machine?
This would allow them to flare the cutout portion to 3 1/4.
