3 codes ?? lost
1st code is: P1657......CAN link chip malfunction
2nd code is: P0100......The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for the mass air flow sensor. this code points towards a possible wiring problem, IE: short to ground, short to power, or an open circuit. 3rd code is: P0400......The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the exhaust gas return flow. (i blocked off the EGR valve so this one i'm ok with) has anyone had either of the first 2 codes. I just did the longtube install and removed the cats, egr and air |
P1657 is the skip shift solenoid, not whatever that was you posted. :)
P0100 is MAF-insufficient signal activity, meaning that the pcm did not see the air flow change enough based on engine activity. Could have been a momentary thing and a pcm reset may get rid of it. You could also try checking to see if the MAF is dirty. |
Check the MAF wires.

the things i posted were the printouts that came from autozone. thats what their computer told me. my skip shift is eliminated, how to i get rid of the code? i dont know whats wrong with the MAF. it doesnt make a diff if i have it pluged in or not. i tried messing with the wires but i dont know how to check them like you meanchoned. do i get a meter and test them? what should they be at?

Im not sure but isnt it possible that if the car was started while the MAF ws unplugged he would then get that same code? I had this happen to me and after auto zone cleared the code it never came back. Hope this helps!

I just did the longtube install and removed the cats, egr and air On the SkipShift code, did you simply unplug the connector on the tranny, or did you add the resistor or a ready-made "skip shift eliminator"? If you did the resistor or added a ready-made unit, it should prevent the code. However, you may have a blown fuse on the power supply to the solenoid, or the resistor may have come loose, etc. Check the brown wire at the skip shift harness connector for +12V. For the MAF code..... again, check the fuse for the MAF? There seems to be a pattern of problems starting to show up frequently with loss of the +12V power at the MAF. This is often traced to a faulty harness wire, but no one seems to be able to find where the wire is breaking or shorting out. Check the pink wire at the MAF harness for +12V with the key "on". The MAF is a generic failure code, obviously the result of deleting the EGR valve. |
