3:73 Or 3:90 Or 4:10

what gear would be the best im thinking 3:73 but can anyone give me some times with these gears and if you like em or not thanks

karpetcm 08-08-2008 08:57 PM

Ive personally done 3.73's and 4.10's and would choose 4.10's no doubt. Its treaky to hook up but way more fun to drive. Ive had 4 camaros and done 4.10's on all 4 of them including the one i just purchased its the 1st mod i do.

If you have a 6 speed like it says I wouldnt waste my time only going up a little bit in gear. I'd be doing at least 4.10's if not 4.33, or 4.56's.

No idea what you are doing with your car but if I could do my Hawk again, I would do 4.56's.

Zigroid 08-09-2008 12:06 AM

4.56s

mr.green 08-09-2008 12:15 AM

would i get any traction with 4:10s or 4:56s i installed 4:10s on my old GTA and it would break loose with a feather foot and my car now has alot more power

Klypto 08-09-2008 12:34 AM

i have 4.10s... gives me smiles everyday. havnt been to the track yet on them, but i seem to hook on the street enough to see it would hook at the track still...

<Puck> 08-09-2008 09:11 AM

Depends on your cam, engine, tire, etc

96capricemgr 08-09-2008 09:21 AM

With the .50 OD of the T56 most guys agree 4.10s are just fine. Go numberically lower and it is hard to use 6th without lugging the engine. Low RPMs can be very hard on a motor if it is lugging

Pandamonkey 08-09-2008 02:54 PM

I wish I had the money right now - all this talk about 4.10's make me want a gear swap! :D

Stupid factory 3.42's.........

94arcticwhiteM6 08-09-2008 03:58 PM

where is a good place to source 4.10's? i was looking at the 4.11"s from Randy's Ring and Pinion but if you want gears that are quiet they are expensive.

Bersaglieri 08-09-2008 05:13 PM

Set them up right and most dont whine. I have done two Richmonds that people say whine all the time, mine were dead silent, even the used set. Guy who had the used set before me claimed they would whine like hell

Exactly! There is no "BEST GEAR". It all depends on your combo!

Klypto 08-10-2008 12:57 AM

id go 3.73 auto. 4.10 stick... best routes imo for stock, or moded cards

I guess everyone has an opinion. I like 3.73 for a street car that makes some power. I think 4.10 or lower with street tires equals no traction making 1st and 2nd gears worthless. The second you nail the throttle, you are having to shift. Now, if you go to the track a lot and run a taller tire, then yes, go with the lower gear. Just my $0.02 worth.
