230/236 cam OK with Stock Heads?

I'm thinking about ordering the 230/236 / .598/.608 custom comp cam kit from combination motorsports...how will this cam perform with stock heads? I'm getting some heads ported and they're supposed to flow around 275-280 cfm @ .600 lift...but they won't be installed for a few months. What kind of RWHP can I expect to see with MAC Int. headers, no cat, hooker catback, 52mm throttle body, LT4 KM, free mods, & pcm4less tune with stock heads? Any guess with the heads??

230/236 does alright on stock heads, if you plan on porting your heads in the near future you should be ok as long as you do Springs, lifters, pushrods, RRs, yatta yatta. It has kinda a high peak RPM HP for my taste on stock bottem end, but your call.

Shot in the dark here, but i would say 340HP on stock heads and 380+ on a good P&P w/larger valves?

Cool...thanks for the tips...what made you choose the XE224/230 grind over something bigger? Is there much of an overall power difference besides higher peak HP between the two cams? This is a daily driver so the less lump with higher HP would be good...I might get sick of a huge cam feeling it everyday.

I chose the 224/230 because it does very well on stock heads, and a few guys on here are making 370+ HP on P&P heads.

It also makes peak power at around 5900 rpms, which i like on my stock bottem end. Im not sure on peak HP RPM on the 230/236, but i think it would be 20-30hp over the 224/230 with P&P heads.

The 224/230 is also supposed to have very good street manners, and you can pass emissions with it on 114 LSA, if that is an issue.

If i thought i was gunna go out and have my heads ported next week, i would have went with a bigger cam, but since its just a possibility for the future, i wanted one that runs great on stock heads, with room for improvement on P&P heads.

Thanks for the advice...I was expecting a higher gain with the 230/236 cam than just 20 or 30 HP. I'm just shooting for a fun daily driver street car that can hang with almost anything on the street (other f-bodies and mustangs, even zo6 vettes ) I'm sure that 370+ to the wheels with good gearing and some sticky tires can compete. Whenever my stock bottom end goes byebye I'll build a real motor...til then, I think I just might take your advice on the 224/230. Thanks again.
