2-series posi in 3-series rearend?

Will a posi from a 2 series carrier work in my 3 series rearend? If not what do i have to do to get it to work or not possible? Thanks

Rear housings are the same... it's the carriers that are different, [as well as the ring and pinion...]

The carrier and posi are one unit. There are carriers with and without posi.
