2 Bolt or 4 Bolt
Hey peoples I'm still learning about my good old LT1. I've been looking around but i can't find the answer to this question. Is there anywhere, on the internet, where I can find out whether I have a two or four bolt engine. I have a 1996 LT1 with the black OEM racing stripes, if that helps

I'll just use the factory 4 bolt and not argue. I just never had one fail in the main brg area.
I know 8-1000HP may not be enough to do it but I don't build any bigger SBC's than that.

I dont know think all CAMAROS came with 2 bolts. If your car had to have the engine replaced under warranty it might have had a 4 bolt put into it. Also in 1997 some CAMAROS came with 4 bolts from the factory.

i blown my engine and destroy my block it was a 4 bolt and was in a 1994 camaro, and was the original. now i'm 2 bolt since i couldn't found a 4 bolt in a yunk yard.

. Anyways, for 99% of us the 2 bolt block will be perfectly fine. FWIW, the Malibu I used to race ran for many seasons with a 2 bolt block, spinning 7500 RPM and cranking out 525 HP. It ran basement 11's @ 120ish. No block filler or anything. I really don't understand all the bench-racing hype about 4 bolt blocks. As stated before, if you're that concerned about it then convert a 2 bolt to splayed caps and be done with it.

It was a replacement block or engine.
If ya didn't buy it new(could have been replaced before hitting the showroom) and cannot vouch for where or when or how it became a 4 bolt then it didn't come from the factory that way.
