1997 Z with 5L?????
There is this guy that golfs where i work quite a bit and he has a 97 Z28 6-speed. Just the other day he said it has a 305 in it and it is stock. I thought that only the LT1 350 was put in the 93-97s.
Anyone know of this. I havent asked him to pop his hood yet, but i am thinking bout it. I know he knows his cars pretty well. So i dont know. Lemme know peeps.
Thanks
Tony

ah he's just mis-informed. b/c there are baby LT1s out there that are 305s(not in camaro's though), i believe. I had a mechanic ask me if it cost me extra to have a LT1 rather than a standard chevy 350 put in my Z.
There is no such thing as a 305 in a 1993 or later Z28. All of them from '93 to '97 had 350 LT1's in them from the factory. A select few had LT4's in them, in '97 I believe, and it was only a very limited production run.

nope, he didnt believe LT1s came with Z's. so when i told him it has an LT1 and they were standard for Z28s, he was wondering if I paid extra for it, he thought some other chevy 350 engines came with the car.

the " baby LT-1s" were in the Roadmaster and Caprices from 94-97 and were a 4.3 265. They are completely different heads, block, and crank. I know cuz I thought the yard gave me one when I got my LT1
