o2 sensors!

I have read that the 93 Camaros do best with the delco o2`s but does it pertain to the other year models! The reason I ask is that I have a 94 Camaro and can get some bosch ones new, really cheap and with a warranty! I have read the stories on not using the bosch ones but most of the problems are on the 93`s that I can see! Just wondering why they have such a bad reputation! Bosch seems to be a pretty strong company!

Re: o2 sensors!

Bosch's issues transcend more than just the single wire non-heated O2s. IMO, don't mess around with anything other than AC Delco O2s as they have been proven to be FAR more reliable and accurate. Do a Google search on Bosch's and you'll see what I mean.

Re: o2 sensors!

I ran bosch in my 96 for like 3 years without a problem, but if you have the cash Delco's seem to be better, but if it was a huge price difference i would buy bosch

Re: o2 sensors!

Some people have had great luck with the Bosch o2 sensors, my experience is different however, When i put longtubes on my car i installed two brand new Bosch sensors because i could get them for cheap, since i worked at a parts store at the time i was able to get 20% off of them, so i decided to give them a try. The first set lasted a couple thousand miles, replaced them under warranty, the next set lasted about the same amount of time before i once again got a lean code and started dumping fuel. i then bit the bullet and picked up a set of ACDelco sensors and have driven the car about 60,000 miles since, without a problem. All on the same tune

so for me it is ACDelco

Stay with OEM however......

All brands of GM O2s are actually manufactured by Standard. So if you have a source for Standard like I do at wholesale, it's the same only cheaper. I know this because I have been to several technical classes put on by Standard and it was explained to us.

I was never able to use Bosch. They set a code in a short time after installing them. I asked a few people about this and got the best "possible" answer from my previous Snap-on guy who came from the repair industry. And I will pass it on to you.

OEM manufacturers make many different units to meet specific functioning ranges. Aftermarket manufacturers want to produce as few "different" types as possible to take advantage of manufacturing cost reductions. Therefore, if they widen the range that a particular unit operates within, they can utilize it in several more applications. With tolerance stacking, it may work fine in some applications but operate too close to the limit in others.

Over the years, I as many others, have learned. With electrical items, it's always best to stay with the same source as OEM. The following are good examples of this. Starters, definitely fuel pumps, alternators, O2s, sensors, most ignition components.

There are exceptions to some of those but without doing a lot of research, you are always safe with OEM sources.

Re: o2 sensors!

Injuneer pointed out some ACDelcos at RockAuto: https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=736435

Not sure what price you are looking at, but at that price it seems not worth the risk to go with a problematic Bosch.
