1996 camero z28 cuts out and dies at high rpms
I was driving my 1996 camero z28 tonight and I got on it from 1st gear to 2nd gear and it sputtered and cut out and then died, I shifted to a higher gear and let out on the clutch and it started back up and ran fine as long as I didn't get on it. It runs fine driving normal and does fine. I did try try to get on it again to see if it would do that again and it did, I had to coast to a stop this time and restart it with the key. It fired up and drove fine, I didn't try to get on it any more being I didn't want to take any chances of tearing anything up. I haven't had any issues with this problem until the car gets warmed up. Once the car gets up I temp it seems to do this. If anyone has anything that would help I would greatly appreciate it.

Check the fuel pressure under heavy engine load.

Re: 1996 camaro z28 cuts out and dies at high rpms
Thanks for the replies, I haven't changed the plugs or wires as of yet I will look in to that. I will also check my codes also. I am trying to figure out a coolant problem now. I just ordered a water pump and after replacing a thermostat, didn't correct the problem of burping the system and it still pukes out coolant when the temperature gets hot. I was told burping the system would correct it but after two tries it just kept puking out. I noticed it would cycle coolant for about 10-20 seconds and then stop so I thought maybe the water pump wasn't working correctly. I am also replacing the temp sensor while The water pump is out. If any suggestions on this would also be appreciated. Thanks again for all the replies.

Did you get the correct LT1-specific t'stat?
http://shbox.com/1/tstat.jpg Why not test the coolant temp sensor before replacing it? 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles Do you have the correct 18psi radiator cap, and has it been tested to verify it holds pressure? |
