1995 LT1 Problems really WIERD!
 

Hello, I have a 1995 camaro with a LT1 and I bought the car with the delteq system installed. So far I've replaced every vacuum hose accept fuel pressure regulator. I've also replaced the ECM and the "brain" to the delteq system. When the car gets hot under the hood (not specified temp.) but definitely not when the thermostat opens, but when you've been driving for awhile and you stopped and were idling for awhile thats when it would die. I can't figure it out. Also I took it to a shop and everytime it died for them they tech pulled a code 16 which is low resolution pulse form the distributor, do I have to replace the whole opti-spark? any ideas? Please help I can't drive this thing because it's not reliable and I love the car to death I WANT TO DRIVE it lololol THanks for all the help in advance.

Because you are using the Delteq, you are not using the high voltage side of the distributor. You are however using the two low voltage feedback signals from the original distributor located in the back half of the opti. Here in lies your problem. Since it occurs regularly from "heat" it is more than likely the optical encoders in the distributor and not a wiring issue.

I believe you can get the back half of the distributor without buying the cap and rotor and could thus save a few dollars.

So I need a new actual distributor and not a cap and rotor? also when I reinstall everything I dont need to install the rotor do I since it's not distributing power?

You don't indicate where you live, but around here, AutoZone (and I believe O'Reily's also) carries a lifetime warranty on a rebuilt opti. It is ONLY the "back-half" without the cap or rotor. It is a little pricy for them, but since I have gone through 3 of them so far (all from liquid diets via the waterpump) it was a worthwile investment.
