1.6 rocker install & lt4 valve springs

I'm planning on doing my rockers and valvesprings today. I have a couple questions.

Would it make more sense to leave my car up on my rhino ramps since I have to get at the crank pulley to rotate it and line the arrow up?

To manually rotate the crank, do I use a socket on that bolt in the center of the crank pulley, or do I turn it by hand.

Thanks guys. If I have any other questions during the install I'll post in this thread. :)

If you can turn it by hand, then you must be arm wrestling champ of the universe, haha.

Use a socket, but if you take the belt off and at least some sparkplugs out, it will make it a lot easier.

I didn't have mine on ramps because it would make it very hard to get to the rockers from the top. You can turn the crank from the top, though.

haha that is what I thought. Thanks

I'm trying to figure out if im at 1 TDC or 6 TDC with the arrow at 12 oclock.

I rotated the crank clockwise looking at it from the front of the car, and the arrow past 12 oclock. I could see the #1 cylinder intake valve opening. That should mean I am at #6 TDC right? Cylinder 6 should be firing and 1 should fire on the next 360*?

when i was adjusting my valves, i had the 2 mixed up. i thought i had 1 tdc but was actually 6. just make sure. if u have the wrong one up, you'll find out when u go to move the crank to the next piston.

i had my pulley off when i did mine and used longer bolts and pry bar to spin the hub

thats correct. you are at #6. turn the crank one full rotation and you will be at #1 :)
