0-150mph
This is just a stupid question that has been going through my head, but on average, how long would it take a full bolt on Z28 to run to 150 from a dead dig? or even a stock f-body
Probably in the neighborhood of 20-25 seconds. Depends on your 60'. ;)
20 sec from 0-150 wow, thats kind of fast:eek: I actually was looking at a 1994 motor trend the other day and they had a z-28 vs mustang gt comp. They has a 0-130 test and the z took 26 sec. So a stock z would do 0-150 in prolly 35 to 40 sec. btw, the mustang took 46 sec to get to 130:D
yeah much longer than 25 seconds to get to 150..
it takes a stock z28 on average 14.2 seconds to hit 100mph. Drag more than doubles from 100 to 150. A stock Z i bet would take 45-50 seconds to hit 150mph. Bolt on is such a liberal term... Shorty headers, cat back, intake and a mail order tune running properly... maybe 5 seconds sooner. |
I was going to say around 30+ but then I was thinking about how it takes less time to get to those higher speeds due to momentum and what not. Maybe with a sail, a fan mounted on the hatch and a good hurricane force wind behind you and it can be done under 30 seconds.
I would guess somewhere in the 40-45 second range.
if one of your "bolt-ons" is a 450hp fogger nitrous setup, you could probably get to 150 in around 8.5 seconds :)
Maybe you could "bolt-on" a JATO jet engine and render yourself isignificant to the actual 0-150 process ;) |
thanks for all the replies, I actually had the car at 150 lastnight on a desolate highway at about 1am. went from about a 70mph roll and actually didn't take that long to get there, I was surprised
i've never tried it i don't think to many are stupid enough to try it. i would never do 150 in my car.
I know it was stupid but curiousity kinda got the best of me
i don't trust my 1995 pinnacle of GM's economy sports car engineering to take me 150mph... i'm afraid body panels or wheels will start falling off.
I take mine GM to 171 MPH everytime I goto BIR. :thumb:
I dont think hitting 150 is stupid... its better to know what your car can do than not know what it can do...
As long as your smart about it. 1 am with no other cars around is as about as smart as its gonna get. Anyways I blame GM for not putting a limiter on the vehicle.. :D |

With a given 1/4 mile time/mph, a couple of software programs could accurately predict 0-150 times for other than your car. IMO, 150 @ night is a lot like practice bleeding. 220 ft/second doesn't give you much look-ahead time with halogen or even HID headlights. Too bad it wasn't a full moon night like last Wednesday. :) My $.02 |
