**Getting my car back from the shop!!**

The problem started with a bad stumble at idle, lots of black smoke coming out of the exhaust, and a bad gas smell while the car was on. I didn't have time to try to resolve the problem because I had to go on a 2 week trip. When I came back from the trip the battery was totally dead. I tried to jumpstart it many times but the starter cranked EXTREMELY slowly. I got a new battery and tried to start it again and GRRRRRRRR. %&*@! The starter broke in half. I then had it towed to my local repair shop. They changed out the starter and found that the problem was caused by a bad fuel injector that was constantly spraying fuel into the cylinder. Changed the fuel injector/seals and got an oil change. Now I'm just sitting here thinking about how I'll know if my car is running as good as new again. I know I can go to the track to see if my times are the same as before, but I want to make SURE it's running just as good as before. I could also use my trusty old lead foot/butt-o-meter combo to see if it feels better. Are there any values reported by the PCM that I could check to see if it's running fine? I know others have had a similar hydrolocking problem before.....
