****IN-A!! Tranny Mount

This has to be the 6th one I've gone through in the last 3 months... Any suggestions for one that WON'T wear this fast? I've been using Autozone's Aftermarket T-Mount with a lifetime guarantee, which is obviously not very long...

Any idea of what might work better?

Well 6 in 3 months is a lot. You may have a problem elsewhere. But get yourself a Energy Suspension Poly mount. That will solve your broken tranny mount problem. If you brake one of those then your in trouble.

Would just about anyone carry them or do I need to order them from Thunder Racing or someone in particular?

The LS1 moutn has a torque limiter built in to it. Therefore it shouldn't tear apart completely. I have had mine for 4 years now.

have you tried a 1le mount?

it's stiffer than stock but not as solid as the ES mount (less vibration). and it's available at dealers or maybe other places, and i think it costs about $25

Your options are...

1. Get a Prothane or Energy Suspension mount...I'd be surprised if you could break one of those. The "vibrations" everyone talks about aren't that bad at all.

2. Get rid of that POS stock torque arm and get an aftermarket one...an aftermarket arm that bolts to the trans tunnel won't put extra stress on the transmission and won't break your mount any more.

3. Quit beating the crap out of your car...then stuff won't break.

Any recomendations on the TQ Arm?

Sad to say - it's actually being treated quite well... no launches or anything... it just gets shaken to hell i guess

Try www.spohn.net they make a good torque arm that takes the mount of of the trans and onto the trans tunnel and won't put the suspension in a bind..dont have one myself, but looks real good...I'm probably gonna get one soon. By being shorter it also moves the instant center point more rearward. That and being able to adjust pinion angle should make for great 60 fts and good drivability...have heard of some ground clearance issues, maybe someone who has one can chime in...Also apolyurethane mount is great and is about $20-25...would do this regardless of torque arm choice...

Car is already 2" lowered - clearance hasn't been an issue yet, and I'd like to keep it that way... anyone have one that can verify?

Just get the Poly mount. A 1le mount is good to but at the way your breaking them i wouldn't go with anything other then a poly mount. The vibration is not bad at all really.

I bought Engery Suspension stuff at my local Autozone which surprised me, b/c I thought it could only be bought through Summit, or Jegs.

Try AutoZone, they carry Energy Suspension for the same price as Summit -the shipping.

I to installed the 1LE tranny mount for my Z, no problems either.

I know, the PepBoys here has a whole selection of ES stuff even for Fbodies now, in with the ricer section of course That's fine by me though as long as they have stuff for us too thats cool. I picked up some ES sway bar end links and bushings the other week, I was shocked they carried them for 4th gens They even carry the big K&N HP-3002 oil filters too.

Hey there. Get that POS tranny mount off your car and ask for a freaggin refund.

Snap the ES tranny mount and hold on!! cause that thing wont brake. to exagerate my point a little I would say you would first see your engine bursting right through the engine hood before that mount breakes a sweat (well not really but its a good mount).

now for the dude who said

The "vibrations" everyone talks about aren't that bad at all.
I dare you to drive my car. God Dang it that makes the car feel like its a POS. but then it also makes me feel the slightliest misfire. not matter how small I do feel it all the way around the brake and gas pedal. (I must have sensitive feet )

After breaking tranny mounts left and right I finally put the ES tranny mount on. I turned my car on and it was an Instant love hate relationship. I hate the freaking tranny mount vibrations but I love how the whole things feel so much firmer (less pussycat than ever) and I launch everyday at almost every stoplight (not really but I have been a bad boy ), The mount doesnt even break a sweat.
