Question $400 bucks, what to do?

Hey, I have a good 400 bucks right now. I want bolt on performance stuff. I have a 94 z28 automatic, it has a flowmaster, not cat converter, and a K&N filter. I think I"m getting a cai (recommend a brand please), but what else. I saw at I think thunder racing a switch for your transmission that makes the shifts firmer, does it help? It was only $40. What else should I get, thanks and God Bless

Build a custom CAI, install a transgo shift kit. Get some LCA relocation brackets. That should be about $300 or so.

Check the for sale board, eBay, etc. and see if there's anything good. As long as you avoid the G2 (been there, tossed that), the rest do the same thing.

For the rest of the $$, if you don't have a means of scanning the car, I'm going to go against the grain and suggest you pick something up now rather than later in your mods (when you reeeealy need one, but spent all the dough on parts - been there too ). AutoXray, or an AKM cable and Freescan for your computer.. something along those lines.

If you've already got that covered, I'd put the rest of it towards a headers fund.

$30 for a cutout (or $170 for an electric cutout) to free up a good 10-15 hp with that crappy flowing FM

as for cold air induction, good ones are morosso, K&N, lingfelter (sp??)

what do you do with the car? drag? street?

if you want a real change in how the car handles, upgrade the front sway bar (or both if you want). that made a huge difference in the way my car handles.

i've got a few parts for sale right now...

160* thermostat and an underdrive pulley, thow in a free throttle body bypass and you should have about 10hp gain. let me know

Buy used headers and used CAI. My headers were 250 and CAI was 100. You can find deals like I did if you look hard enough.

Only throw on a TransGo if your transmission has not already started slipping...and if you don't do the install yourself, you'll be looking at over a $200 install JUST for the kit...

I'd advise a K&N fipk or a Moroso cai...maybe a used set of headers...3.73's are always a good idea accompanied by a 2800 stall...
