$225 reasonable quote for gear change???
I was just quoted as $225 for parts and labor on changing my 4.11's to the 3.42's i have. Is that a reasonable price, or would it be in my favor to cahnge it out myself? I really cant stand the rpms i am at on the highway and the horrible gas mileage i get. Thanks guys.

Re: $225 reasonable quote for gear change???
A local shop here in Raleigh quoted me $200 for labor. That quote sounds about right.

Re: $225 reasonable quote for gear change???
If that is indeed for parts and labor, sounds like a hell of a deal. Parts alone have to cost the shop near $225. You sure that quote includes parts? $200 is about average for labor to install a gear set, parts not included.

He said he already has the 3.42's so I was under the assumption it was just labor.

Re: $225 reasonable quote for gear change???
What i mean by parts is the gaskets etc.. i have the gears already. Is that what you are referring to?

Re: $225 reasonable quote for gear change???
My fault. Didn't see that you already had the 3.42s. $225 is a fair price for the install. :)

Re: $225 reasonable quote for gear change???
Sounds fair to me i would charge you $250.00, but I hate doing gear swaps. It can be a PIA.
