Z28 or SS
Z28 or SS
On the 2002 Camaro SS and Z28 is the anyway of telling between the two. What I mean is besides the obvious ( hood, wing, and badges ) is there anyway to tell a true SS. Is there an emblem under the hood or a special badge somewhere? How can I tell. I just bought one and I just want to make sure it is a SS and not a Z someone dressed up to look like a SS. Thanks in advance...

Hey 97bowtie, I've been lurking this site for some time now and I just noticed you live in Prescott AZ. I live in Prescott Valley. Just wanted to say hey. By the way, I own a 2002 SS. Maybe I'll see ya on the road.
Re: Z28 or SS
Some of the SS cars came numbered...if they are the same as firehawk numberings it would be on the ashtray. Only the ones from SLP were numbered though, it's possible you can have just a regular GM SS.
Re: Z28 or SS
Since when did an SS not come from SLP? Every SS was supposed to go through SLP. They would take base Z28's and then swap out the wheels and tires and the hood and whatnot.. Hence why they have so many takeoff for sale.
At least thats what I remember reading.. Maybe it changed?

Re: Z28 or SS
All the LT1 SS went through SLP but through the LS1 years some were from GM, I think it was the ones that didn't get any options, just wanted the appearence package. This is what I've read anyways.
