Z06 Maf

Hey guys, I'm looking at putting a new MAF on car. I was looking at SLP, Granatelli and the corvette maf. The corvette one looks to be the best, but I was wondering if it was reliable/compatible/whatever in an f-body car. Also my car is a daily driver in the summer.(if that makes a difference) The Granatelli's are pricy! Are they that much better-what is the deal here?

Tks for your input!

The MAF is a precision measuring device. The PCM's programing is calibrated to match the MAF ... screw with the MAF and your PCM is now mistuned.

Even so called "calibrated" MAFs are still mistuned vis-a-vis the PCM.

So would it be feasible if I had my PCM reprogrammed? Or is it something I should wait to do until after I do more serious modss?

Don't bother, most tuners don't want to mess with it ... there is nothing to really be gained.

Re: Z06 Maf

I put a SLP 85mm in my car (auto) and it refused to shift from 2nd to 3rd gear at WOT. The MAF is one thing I will NOT mess with again until I get more cubes (IE 383 or something). As mentioned above, the MAF is finely tuned to the computer and a different one will cause more harm than good.

How about having yours ported and polished? Several people offer this service or if your handy with a dremel and can slap some expoy on you can spend a few hours and save your hard earned dollars.

By porting and polishing, you are essentially mis-calibrating a measuring instrument.

stock maf can support loads of power and you won't need a replacement for a long time.
