Why is my car stalling? (A4)

Sometimes when I cut the wheel all the way to make a sharp U-Turn or occasionally when Im backing up slowly in reverse the car stalls on me and dies. It starts right back up. I installed the torque convertor over the winter and I think it could be the stall causing it. I think I may be in desperate need of a tune, but the cam is going in in less than 3 weeks so I am going to wait until then, but does anyone think I may have other problems besides needing a computer adjustment.

Doubt it, the RPMs drop fluctuate a bit and when they drop to 300 rpm the car stalls.

It's your pulley, although I don't hear about this much happening to automatics. Your pully lowers your volts enough, and when you make a hard turn the power steering pump uses a lot of those volts, especially when going slow. I've also heard of manual cars dying in reverse with the pully cause the rpms are so low.

A power steering pump has nothing to do with voltage. Although it could have something to do with the pulley. When you bottom out the steering (holding it against the steering lock) you create a lot of pressure in the p.s. pump and it causes your rpm's to drop. Because with the smaller pulley you have less effective torque on the accessory pulleys, when you bottom out the steering you cause the rpm's to drop signigicantly. Just my best guess.

These explanations although feasible still dont convince me that its not my torque convertor. B/C the car was fine b4 the torque convertor install. It did that once with the torque convertor while it was in there for about 5 miles over the winter. Took it out the car never did that and then when my trans got the performance rebuild I tossed the stall back on and its started again. Leading me to believe that the torque convertor is somehow the cause.

It's the TC. Mines was the same way before the tune. Had to raise the idle a little due to less rotating mass in the converter. Somehow it makes the idle unstable.
