I heard of a few people blow up the engine due to oil pump failure, how common is this? Might be worth it to install the LS6 oil pump just for the piece of mind and insurance against oil pump failure.

my bro Lukey has a '00 and it crapped out on him, the key is to "keep" youre eye on the gaugages, if the oil press neele stays bottomed out for more than a couple secs turn it off, and youre motor will still be fine. now if youre a retard and drive it around after the car has been brought to the dealer on a trailer because there was no oil press and the dealer was told about it than .......
me myself i wouldn't worry about it, just don't ignore the needles

Lukeys bro
