White smoke, smells like coolant, rattling: anyone wanna take a stab?
Well, tonight i took my friend in the TA for a spirited n20 run cuz he'd never been in a juiced car. I was running 125hp dry shot and sprayed three times in 2nd and twice in third. At the end of last run in third as i let off of n20 and the gas, we hear a rattling sound...kinda like something was brushing up against a fan or something....car is running fine....no loud bangs, bumps, or grinds.
But about one minute later as i'm driving to a nearby parking lot to see what happend, i notice the white smoke that's coming out of my tailpipes. I get out, and the fast rattle is reduced to a steady knocking (but not really knocking) soundsm rhythmic with the idle. When i move the accelerator and give some gas, the rattling increases. The smoke smells like coolant, oil is fine - no burnt oil smell, no milky oil in the dip or from the breather. I decide to limp her to a nearby apartment parking lot (i used to leave there so it'll be fine for tonight...there was NO WAY i was limping her 25 south to home) and you should have seen the SPYHUNTER smoke screen my car put up! I mean, the smoke was bellowing out of the back of my car. the rattling continues and there seems to be a slight to moderate surge in power while driving, that in 2nd to higher gears seems to smooth out. Anyone wanna take a stab at it? KASR |
my guess.... head gasket plus some valvetrain failure.. which probably caused the headgasket or perhaps punched through a water main.... was too soon to see it in your oil.. check it in the morning..

I agree,
The knocking you hear is probably where the gasket blew (hopefully thats all) Your not gonna want to hear this , but it also could have thrown a rod, or broke a piston (worst case senario) |
definately a headgasket but it could be a busted hose and sprayed all the anitfreeze on your exhaust look in the engine bay for external damage but if not it is probably a headgasket or head.

dropped a valve punched a hole in a head

head gaskets are causing that coolant smell
