What the heck is that?

In an LS1, what is that 1" wide tube that attaches to the side of the stock air box (the right side, on the right box).

Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

i have wondered this as well... it is a rubber tube that runs up the perimeter of the engine bay zip tied to the drivers side fender and heads towards the firewall....

i been thinking its where the air from the cabin vents comes from

it's the inlet tube for the AIR system, feeds teh electric pump that supplies cool air to the cats during warm up.

it's on the box so that it's filtered.

most lids call for you to put a small air filter on a short hose and tuck it out of the way

This air hose didn't appear until the 2000 model, right? I know my FIPK had the filter for it but it didn't apply to my '98.

I apoligize for the simple question. I've been out of the mod game for a while. I'm a little rusty.

great thanks for the info! I noticed the SLP air lids have a hole for that thing, but i don't think any of the others do. I noticed on a few install pictures they just had it dangling in the breeze...

Mine has the hose for the AIR pump. I just plugged it in to the slp lid. And I don't have any cats.
