What position in the VIN denotes a v8 and what letter is it? P?

The engine is denoted by the eigth spot (8) You need to now the year to know what the letter means.

It is a 98 and the 8th digit is a k. is that a 6 cyl? I would call the dealer but they are closed right now. Seen it online and doesn't say if it is a 6 or 8 Thanks for anymore help guys

Yeah, K would be the 3.8 V6.

Since this is LS1 tech, you would expect the car to be 98 or newer, right?

Eighth character in the VIN for F-bodies:

K= L36
G= LS1
