Vararam Velocity Stack
I'm reading the Eckler's Camaro catalog right now and there's an LS1 product here called the Vararam Velocity Stack.
It inserts into your throttle body and they claim a 6-13 HP and 6-10 FT-LB. gain with just this product.
Have any of you tried this or is this thing just another smooth bellow or Tornado?

Re: Vararam Velocity Stack
it's been around for about a year.
tbyrne started selling it. they claimed better throttle response on a C5 and on a truck...
but nothing beyond manufacturer's claims that i've seen.
i say just port the TB

Re: Vararam Velocity Stack
its a local company that makes them.. (pasedena texas area..) anyways, a friend of mine got one for his truck.. I made fun of him the entire time.. it basically funnels the air into a tighter opening so that it can increase the velocity of the air.. in theory it could work, but then why are people going to larger TB's?
if you ask me, bolt on power wont be had this way.. same reason you dont change your TB until you have serious mods that will dictate the need for added airflow..
The stock TB is good for quite a bit so why worry about that... spend money on your suspension and get some power to the ground...

Re: Vararam Velocity Stack
to psychocabbage...read my sig., i want to eventually make big streetable power, would buying sfc's be a good mod for right now, or will i notice anything. Also, will sfc's aid in the destruction of my rear.
Re: Vararam Velocity Stack
subframe connectors will stiffen the frame alot. you'll notice it on uneven roads.
i felt like it made the suspension stiffer...more rough. but i thinnk it was just that the body was absorbing less of the road and it was relying on the suspension more. giving the illusion of stiffer suspension.
how will suspension have anyting to do with the rear end?
kindda like saying "will a backbrace cause premature foot fungus?"

Re: Vararam Velocity Stack
The velocity stack is just a bandaid for those who don't want a ported TB.
I've read someone claim the plastic melted to the TB, but I don't know. I would think it would tend to distort after a while though.
As for SFC's. They were one of the best mods I've done so far.

Re: Vararam Velocity Stack
Don't know about the velocty stack, but DO GET THE SFC's. With t-tops and more power F-bodies will twist. Doors won't close, can't keep alignment, clutch won't disengage. It sux.

it wont kill the rear end.. thats usually a cause of either too much power and traction or the rear is flexing under torque (again traction and power)..
I would say to get SFC, LCA and at the very least, some urathane bushings for the tranny and torque arm.. the car will start to feel very much like a race car which means no more plush ride (if you can call our rides plush)...
In a month, you wont notice it as much.. but everyone you take on a ride sure will..
if anything, you will gain traction.. and that you will always notice.. especially off the line and in turns..
I have the velocity stacks on both my Camaro and Tahoe (4.8), and I noticed no difference in the Camaro, however my gas miliage went up on my Tahoe, and it seems more peppy (torque wise) while driving, especially from a dead stop.
