True Duals with Flows VS Dynomax
True Duals with Flows VS Dynomax
I'm going in tomorrow to get rid of my y-pipe and catback setup (Hooker cat-back). It's too mellow and I really don't like the tone of it. I'm going to run true duals possibley with an H-Pipe and I'm wondering which mufflers to go with.
I have two 12" dynomax racing bullets that I could put on with turn downs, or I could buy 2 Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers with turndowns. I don't necessarily want to go deaf which is why I'm even considering the flowmasters. The dynomax bullets really aren't much more than glass packs and I don't think they will muffler much if any sound. The Flowmasters would probably keep it muscular but quiet at idle and still scream in the top-end.
My main goal here isn't really horsepower but sound, any true dual set-up will be better than my pinch-bend cat-back set-up. If you were going with true duals which muffler would you choose?

I have flows on my duals.. (over the axle).. I have exactly what you said.. quiet at idle.. screams at wot..
now.. i did lose about 1/2 mph in my trap speed from switching from a cutout though so that should tell you how restrictive they are

Well, since you have the bullets you could always run them and then if you don't like it switch them out for something else. The bullets would be easier to place and you wouldn't need a cut out with them, but if you may switch makes sure the install the bullets where the flows would fit.
Bullet muffs are not glasspacks. They lack the hard fiberglass that breaks and gives the horrible popping rattle sound that rednecks around here seem to love.
