Here are some shots of my true dual setup. I ran 2.5" mandrel-bent pipes with an X-pipe into two Spintechs mounted sideways/staggered in the rear and exiting both on the driver's side. I didn't go for the symmetrical approach because of all the clearance issues with trying to run a pipe down the driver's side. It took the exhaust shop about 8 hours to do the work but it came out perfect.

It was roughly $900 for parts and labor; most of it was labor. A lot of people have given me crap for how expensive it was, but I think it was money well spent. The guy who runs the shop is a perfectionist and it was completely custom work; no one markets a setup like this. It sounds awesome, totally different than a single exhaust....I highly doubt that there was much of a performance gain vs. a single exhaust, but I knew that going into it. I really wanted the sound of a true dual....

GMAddict...... you didnt get much of a gain becuase your using stock exhaust manifolds and cats. You also have extra weight with those 2 huge spintechs.

Yeah, I really wasn't expecting to gain much with the catback...and you are very right about the weight; those Spintechs are built like lead bricks. The exhaust shop actually was trying to talk me out of the duals and wanted to do a simple single exhaust, but I really was after the exhaust note of duals.

I want to do the ture dual setup on my 02 WS6 within the next month. My question is what kind of mufflers did you put on your car? why? If you were to do it again would you choose the same muffers or go with a different brand? If so, What brand?

GMaddict, Thanks for your reply...

I went with the Spintechs because I had heard them on a couple of other cars and was pleased with the overall exhaust note. They are not as agressive sounding as Flowmasters, which I have on my Vette, but they also don't suffer from the nasty resonance that the Flowmasters have. Truth be told, I would have gone with Flowmasters for the sound if they didn't have such pronounced resonance at crusing RPMs; when I used to daily drive my Vette for 5 years I seriously think I damaged my hearing. Also the welds on the Flowmasters rust very quickly....they haven't rusted through completely, but the Spintechs are holding up much better in the year I have had them on the car.

As far as flow goes, I also have heard that the Spintechs are as good as any Flowmaster if not better....but again I didn't really intend for the system to produce any serious power gains so I wasn't too concerned about maximum flow.

You could go with no mufflers, which is what I did. If I ever go with a pair of LT headers, i'd probably re-do the exhaust with an X-pipe and a small magnaflow muffler on each pipe.
