Traction Control
Well i bought my car fully loaded but it doesnt have traction control. But i do have the little plug on the dashboard for it with the little wiring plug into the back of it, its just a blank where the switch would usually be. How hard would it be for me to put traction control on my car?

As far as how hard would it be to put in,sorry,I can't
answer that, but I'm not sure why you want it.It's not that big a deal & I find myself turning it off a lot cause I don't really care for it.Check around & see if most drivers like or dislike it before you go through the trouble of putting it in,then you'll be able to make a better decision about it. |
I just want it for winter driving

I think it would be really tough...its more then just a switch, your computer would need to be changed, and I beleive that you need additional sensors, etc. Not a weekend install!

why would someone hate TCS? :)
i just bought a 99 TA tuesday and it has TCS on it, i leave it on all the time, keeps me from doin stupid **** while drivin around when i'd try to pull out in an intersection real quick in my camaro it'd almost always break the tires loose in the middle of the intersection and almost get me hit, with TCS on this TA i can give it full throttle and it'll just chirp the tires |
So what's with the wires?
So how about them wires??? what are they for? I have them too. ANyone know?

the wires are most likely there caus its easier for gm to just put them in all the cars. my '94 formula did not have fog lamps, yet behind the dash had the exact same fog harness the t/a's had, all wired to the electrical system (cept there were no lights to control with them heh).
the tcs/asr system also has physical components such as the rear end is different, and throttle cables under the hood. so unless you put all those parts on, the switch won't do anything. btw, my .02 is tcs sucks major. i liked it up until it almost got me into a major accident. had to pull out reasonably quick, so i hit the gas, and i guess there was a tiny bit of gravel, and it cut the power and i was literaly crawling across the road with cars barreling down on me at 55mph in both directions. thats a scarey feeling, i was able to quickly turn it off, and barely got out of the oncoming lane. i will never trust it again, and wish my car did not have it. on my old lt1 my "tcs" was my right foot, and i never had a problem in rain, snow (not too deep), etc. Jon |
