Tired Out

I have a question for all you Z owners who have put 17*9 SS wheels on your car. When you put wheels on that big you prob put on P275 tires. Now how come I still have my stock Z wheels and when I tried to put P255 they were to wide for the wheel well and would scrape against the walls of the car so how did you guys get the 275s on there?

255/50/16 tires are actually taller than the 275/40/17's. 255/50/16 overall diameter is 26.1" while the diameter of the 275/40's is 25.7" which is the same as 245/50/16 tire diameter. It's not the width of the 255 tires that causes the rubbing it's the taller height. You will have no problem with 275/40's.

no it is the width, the tire was litterally to wide to fit in the wheel well. When mounted the 255 scraped against the side of the wheel well not the top.

doesn't the side of the wheel well curve in at the top? since your tire is a bit taller, you could be hitting it .
