The Vette, F-body, and 03 Cobra all have the Tremec T-56 correct?

Yes that is correct. Tremec = borg Warner, They bought them out and put there name on there tranny.

Not all T-56s are created alike however. The earlier T-56s in F-bodies were stronger than the current version due to different synchro material.

I believe the T-56 found in Vipers is quite different than the model GM and Ford use, with much beefier parts. Then again, with 500lb/ft they need to be beefier .

 

I know the LT4 vettes had the ZF6 (German) trans. I don't know if the newer vettes have that tranny, but it must be good for over 750 hp (Callaway ZR1's tt's used them in stock form)...

 

Here are a few differences that I know of. I am by no means saying this is all of them.

Viper T56 has a stronger shift forks. From what I have read they are forged steal as apposed to the aluminum ones used by all other T56s. Also the input and tail shafts are diffrent. Don't know if ther are stronger or have a different number of splines or what the diffrence is. But I know that people have swapped the Viper's T56 into Vettes that have been modified and keep beating the stocker chevy T56 into mush, and the input and tail shafts have to be swapped.

I know of no diffrence between the F-Bod and Fox Bods(Mustangs) T56 trannys.

The Vette's T56 is setup for rear mount. I don't really know how much diffrent it is from the others.
