Stupid question?

I took my car in b/c my brakes were squealing. They fixed them. Then they came at me with this story that it was b/c of the Tire cleaner I had sprayed on. Since my Rims are open and my brakes are exposed, when I spray it, it collects the brake disk. Then, as I drive, etc it forms a Glaze. Well, they had to replace the pads and scrub the rotars to make it all better. My b/f called BS on their story. What do you think?

Maybe, or Maybe Not!!
Easy fix!! When you put (spray) tire cleaner
Cut a piece of cardboard exact same size as your wheel rim. When you spray the cleaner hold the cardboard on wheel and will keep spray of and out of brales! Very easy and the cardboard will dry and you can use it over and over.

I have done it for years on all three of my cars, and it works GREAT!!

Been doing it with nothing to cover it for 21K miles and I have no squeakage yet. Find it really hard to believe that one time caused it.

The reason I was always given was...

"Your brakes are metallic and that's why the squeel. Sometimes there are certain particles that get exposed in the pad that are going to react differently with the rotor. That's why they squeel sometimes and not all the time."

Now, the dealer may have been blowing smoke up my a$$....but, I'd believe that before the line they gave you about your tire products.

Mine make noise almost all the time. From what I've heard it's just because the pads are metallic. With metal on metal you are bound to get a little sqeaking. Then you have break dust build up, your pads can glaze over. Sometimes your brakes will squeak because the pad starts vibrating inside the caliper. That's why they make that brake stuff you put on the back of your pads.

Well the semi matallic has metal particals in it and that is the reason you get the squeel this does not happen all the time but it is known to happen and commenly too. they are better breaks but you take your chances with the squeel.

Same thing happened with me. I JUST got my rotors turned and brand new brake pads put on (Bendix pads) and they squeak a little. I heard cause its new pads and the metal thats in it to. Takes some miles to find thier groove (where they want to sit) They are getting better before it was like an ear piercing sound. Its been 2 days and they improved dramatically.

Im not sure about the cleaner thing, sounds iffy to me but im still a new driver to and Ive only changed oil one time in my life which was yesterday if that tells ya anything
