Need some ideas on what's going on.

Temp gauge 240 & slowly rising! HELP! please
My car got kind of hot today. I was driving in traffic with the AC on, but it wasn't hot outside. It got up to about 220 maybe a little more. I went to a gas station, opened the cap, let a bunch of coolant/water come out then try to add some water. I shouldn't have tried that there cause the water was coming so slow out of the hose. Well I have the car sitting right now and put some water. It's raining outside so I am waiting to go turn it on and let the thermostat open up so I can fill up the radiator some more. The car has 65000 miles, so what do you think is going on. I never seen the car pass the 210 mark for the 60days I've had it. I even went to an autocross and speedtrial ran the car pretty hard and it didn't pass the 210 mark either. I am thinking it's the thermostat not opening. I did push the car hard for a few gears when I was leaving work ....but I can't see what that would have damaged. What do you guys think? If it was a leak then it's a leak only when the AC is on. I haven't used my AC in a few days and when I do I am on the expressway, so the thermostat wouldn't open up anyway. I was planning on driving my car 4 hours out of town, but I guess I shouldn't now. I'm thinking it may not get hot while on the expressway.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. My car got up into the 220-230 range a few months ago at Moroso. I let it cool down for 30-45 mins, made some more passes, drove home...it didn't go past 210-215 during that time and hasn't since.
If it gets up to 220+ on a daily basis then I would start to "worry."

I hope it's okay, but I flushed it and it still went to 230..the line exactly between 210 and 260 while sitting and driving highway speeds. This just started happening on Friday outta nowhere. I was out of town Saturday and so I tried to flush today and same thing. I think the water pump is gone. What are good aftermarket water pumps?

This happened to my Blazer, the Dexcool clogged up the radiator, it looked like wallpaper paste, I've since learned that Dexcool is NOT good for 50k like the owners manual says.
Replace the coolant at 30k max.
The eventual solution for the Blazer was to replace the radiator, after that it ran fine, right at the 190* mark

I think I need to replace the radiator or water pump. I flushed and replaced the dex coolant and got the same results. Radiator's are not cheap for the z28 I hear. Looks easy to replace however.
