stock LS1 valve stem diameter?

whats the stem diameter? Also, does it use 7 degree keepers? Any reason why standard gen 1 sbc keepers wouldn't work?

I lost one while changing my springs, and of course noone stocks ls1 specific stuff... It would seem to me if the steam diameter is the same, and th angle is the same (I tihnk 7 degrees, right?) then any lock should work.

Someone enlighten me if possible, thanks.

Re: stock LS1 valve stem diameter?

The valve stem is 8mm and being an odd-ball size, most keepers in 8mm are generally designed for the LS1. The valves use a bead lock, or radial groove, which is popular on race valves but not on OEM stuff. Just another little oddity that requires a special keeper.

You can call TByrne up and get the keepers. They sell them in sets but it's good to have them around and we're only talking ~$25.

Good luck.
