Stepping Up, Suggestions?
 

Alright I currently have the 93 Z in my sig but I purchased an 01 SS that I'm picking up tomorrow.It has Aprox. 49k miles. Known mods are long tubes, gutted cats, borla exhaust. Ls7 clutch and ls2 fly, 4.10 gears, slp air lid.. Any suggestions on what to do next that don't necessarily involve internals or is that whats next? This is my first LS1 so I'm new to what's good starting mods. Thanks

It sounds like it has most of the mods you would want to start with.

Without engine mods, next up might be a fast intake setup. However, thats overkill since the car already has a ls6 style intake.

I'd guess cam, or heads and cam would yield the best gains. then the rear will likely break.... ;) .

Change the plugs and wires. Then spring for a tune! I'd consider suspension mods because more power is useless if you cant use it.

He had recently done plugs and wires, What kind of tune would be the best? and I plan on sub frame connectors and such but are there more vital suspension parts I may be unaware of? Thanks again for the input guys

That's about all before you start digging into the motor.

hey +1 for t-town! take it up to west tulsa, Ed Wright is a local guy who is the BESAT for tuning. he charges 600 for a full dyno tune, no hourly fees, and if you re-mod and need your tune tweaked in the future, its included. You'll probably be set after a tune, with your mods, you're looking at around 20-25 hp from Ed, well worth it.

wait wait wait, hehe, there IS a company called JET that puts out these goofy plug-in modules that alter ohms and voltages to "simulate" a tune, which is not what i'm talking about. ed's shop is just called fastchip, and he DOES do mail order if thats what you mean.

sometimes car clubs have a dyno day and the shop will offer a reduced rate for tuning. mail order tunes are just "ok". after SFC, if wheelhop LCA's & panhard. if you upgrade cam you must upgrade springs. tr224 is a good medium cam. cheers!
