SS suspension question??

I was just wondering if all 98-02 SS & WS6 cars came with billstein shock and SLP ( Eibach) springs?
or are they just standard GM OEM shocks and springs like on normal Z28's,T/A's & Firebirds??

Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, they are just standard OEM shocks from GM on the Camaro SSes at least.

No, Bilstein was an option.

'96-'99 and very early '00 SS had much of the 1LE suspension, but replaced the Koni shocks with DeCarbons.

'00-'02 SS had the same suspension as a base Z28 with the exception of a 32mm front sway bar.

This is unless it was ordered with an optional suspension like Bilstein or 1LE.

As Chuck mentioned above, the 98-mid 2000 Camaro SS came with 1LE springs (360lb/in front, 130-170lb/in rear) on revalved (firmer) deCarbon shocks with a 32mm front sway bar.

The Camaro Z28 suspension from 98-02 came with deCarbon shocks and the spring rates were 292lb/in front, 115lb/in rear with a 30mm front sway bar.

In mid 2000 untill the end of production (2002) the Camaro SS
still had the revalved (firmer) deCarbon shocks but NOT the 1LE springs. They came with the Z28 springs with a 32mm front sway bar.

The Bilstein suspension was availible on all 98-02 Camaro SS models thru SLP.

The 1LE suspension was availible through GM on 98-00 models.
For the 2001/2002 models, 1LE was optional thru SLP.

Om my 99 SS it is a noticeably firmer ride than my friends 99 Z, and also much firmer than friends with 01-02 SS and Ram-Air cars.

That is because your 99 SS came with the 1LE springs and stiffer deCarbon shocks. Your friends 99 Z28 has softer deCarbon shocks and softer springs. The 01-02 SS and Ram-Airs you mention have the same shocks as your 99 SS but the softer Z28 springs.

Thanks, but I was adding to the discussion. I was aware of the spring difference.
